Day Two of Morning Workouts

Well, folks, Day Two of Morning Workout Experiment was another success! And this time Terry joined me. 4:50 really is early. And our apartment gym technically doesn't open until 7 am (seriously), so we have to be a little sneaky. But we had a great workout!

This arm workout:

Followed by this HIIT workout (originally featured awhile back).

I feel as though the first time I posted this workout I must have been in denial about how difficult it was, because when I reread that post last night I noticed a conspicuous lack of any mention of difficulty. But the HIIT kicked my booty! It felt great to sweat so much, but MAN, those hills were tough. The 90/30 intervals got me!

Starting the day off with a workout has felt great so far, and I love the extra time at night. I had a meeting/get-together for work, then Terry and I got a little overzealous at Barnes & Noble (our gift cards resulted in purchases of Crazy Stupid Love, Telestrations, and travel books). At home, we prepared dinner, watched an episode of (season one) Downton Abbey (we LOVE it!), and relaxed. I even made a new meal tonight!

The recipe came from Smitten Kitchen, and we have no picture because the camera died. So here's a picture of an actual spaghetti squash turned into a taco - which is also a super cool idea.

This recipe was super simple, delicious, and a terrific non-meat meal. Since we felt like we ate enough meat over winter break to last all of 2013, we're on a bit of a hiatus...at least until we make a new burger recipe this weekend! (Get excited! There may or may not be pesto involved.)

We're geared up for a morning workout tomorrow, tackling legs and some non-running cardio, and breakfast smoothies are ready to get thrown into the blender. I'm looking forward to a productive day at work, since two of my classes have a test.

Hope you had a great day!

What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

  1. i am super impressed with your morning workouts. i absolutely LOVE the way that i feel when i get a workout done in the morning but i just have such a hard time making myself go to sleep early enough that i get enough sleep if i wake up at four. that being said - i like having it as an option for when i have plans after work - i think i'll probably stick with my afternoon workouts for the most part and let you hold up the morning workout end of the bargain :)

  2. Wow, that is so early! Way to get up and get it done! I'm come to appreciate HIIT workouts so much more this past year, they are always humbling. :)
