Stable/Unstable Upper Body Workout

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that last week absolutely flew, and this week I can't believe it's only Tuesday. Anyone else?

Either way, I'm thrilled to say that we busted out an upper body and HIIT workout this morning before work. I got to leave a little later than usual because I attended a workshop and didn't have my students, so I took my sweet time getting up. I snoozed a few times, checked my e-mail, then finally threw on my clothes and headed outside to the gym.

The idea here was to complete a stable exercise and an unstable exercise, both working the same muscle group. It was challenging but not overwhelmingly so, and I liked the combination of stable and unstable environments.

We also tackled a quick HIIT workout, which got me nice and sweaty. Nothing like a bunch of sweat to wake you up in the morning.

My mom asked me today how the morning workouts are going, and I told her--great, as soon as I finish each one! Honestly, though, I explained that I like how much time I have in the afternoons and evenings. Morning workouts force me to be more organized, on top of my work, and generally healthy. I go to sleep earlier, so I get more sleep. I know I have to work out early, so I am much more conscious about my choices each evening. It's only been a week and a half, but I am really liking this morning exercise thing! My favorite part? Coming home, putting on cozy clothes, and doing whatever I want to do!

Tonight, "whatever I want to do" involves a little work, homemade pizza (recipe from Smitten Kitchen),

blogging, cleaning, and more Biggest Loser. Terry's watching with me this season, and we are both really impressed with Sunny, the 16-year-old; she is so articulate and extremely intelligent. I just love her personality and really hope she succeeds. And I'm still loving Pam.

And now we're off to watch Happy Endings--what a fantastic and appropriate way to end the evening!

What is your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day?
If I've already worked out, nothing beats cooking a delicious meal and enjoying a glass of wine with my husband.
