Fall Cleaning and Spaghetti Squash

In keeping with the fact that it finally feels like fall around here, we enjoyed a very mellow, pumpkin-spiced day at home. I woke up before Terry and got about an hour of studying done before he got up. He's an extremely light sleeper in the morning, so it took some sneaky talent to avoid bothering him. During an earthquake in the middle of the night, however, when I'm practically punching him and shouting his name, he somehow doesn't hear a thing. Weird how that happens, eh?

When he did wake up, I scrambled up some eggs and gladly sipped on a second cup of tea (on weekends, I like to pretend I'm in London and sip my English Breakfast with my little finger up). Then, for whatever reason, we both felt compelled to clean the apartment. My saint of a husband scrubbed the entire bathroom and kitchen while I tidied the living room and bedroom, and, thanks to the fact that our apartment is so small, we were done! I got some more studying done, we made a trip to Costco, and Scout played with a box.

Around 4 pm, I finally motivated myself to bust out three rounds of Courtney's Timed Stability Ball Workout, which focused on upper body and core. I loved it! It zoomed by, and I felt the burn! I'm sure I'll be feelin' that one tomorrow. I also convinced Terry to join me for a 30-minute brisk walk around the neighborhood. Actually, the original plan was much more intense. I wanted to complete four miles; after each mile, I was going to do one round of the stability workout. But by late afternoon I just wasn't up for such a long time in the gym and opted to lighten it up. Hopefully tomorrow I can squeeze in my sweat session right away.

Then...dinner!
Pre-roast

Post-roast

Spaghetti squash! I made the sauce with fresh tomatoes, spicy Italian sausage, oregano, basil, pasta sauce, roasted eggplant, and buffala mozzarella. Absolutely perfect for this sorta-kinda autumn evening (our walk at 6 pm was still pretty warm).

This pumpkin-spice candle (actually, I believe it's called Madagascar Spice from Yankee Candle) did help with the autumn atmosphere.

Sadly, the Bruins didn't pull out a win tonight, but we still had a good time watching. Next weekend the team is back at home, so hopefully they'll get their act together!

And Scout had a great night, as usual.

Also, this happened today. Guess what will be on in the background as I fall asleep tonight?

Hope you had a fantastic day!

Are you a light sleeper or a sleep-through-anything sleeper?
I'm right in the middle, but my brother is an hilariously heavy sleeper. He's been known to sleep through people actually hitting him with pillows. Impressive, and obviously not genetic.

  5. I'm also studying for NASM! Nice to see I'm not the only one stuck inside on the weekends AND I made the same-ish dish for dinner last week. I used asiago cheese, spicy chicken sausage, and fresh basil to top my spaghetti squash. What a coinky-dink. Good luck studying!!!
